InformationThe eco-tourism or co-existence with the nature can be practiced in the whole State of Yucatan, this activity has like basics the contact with the nature of the visited site, with a vision of learning the environment and the conservation of the ecosystem. The proper sites for the practice of the eco-tourism are the following:
CelestunPort where the most exotic species of the
yucatecan geography coexist, like the pink flamingo.
Nothing better than to take a walk by the long
tidal inlet which will bring you to its spectacular
encounter with the sea. It has a beach of incomparable
beauty and an exquisite variety of seafood; all this
is the perfect excuse to stay one more day in Celestún.
It is located just 109 km from Merida. It has a
tourist center, hotels, restaurants, gas station and
telephones.
Parador Ría de Celestún
Visit Days: Monday to Sunday
Schedule: from 8:00 to 17:00 hours.
Cost: $40.00 pesos.
Note: cost refers to the access fees, this does not include the boat service for the ride, these can change depending of the number of persons in boat.
Río Lagartos
Located almost by the enchanted coast, it also
includes the ports of El Cuyo and Las Coloradas.
You will be able to visit these protected natural
reserves, where the fresh rain water joins with the
saline water of the sea to create the animal habitat
and plants specific of the region, like the white
tail deer, the lizard, the pheasant and hundreds of
species of birds that are the delight of those who
practice their observation.
It is located 222 km from Merida. It has the services
of hotels, restaurants and motorboat rides.
San Felipe
Port of fishermen, formed by rustic wood houses
of multiple colors. There you will be able to walk
by the seafront all along the marsh and admire the
beauty of the vegetation, as well as visit the islets
to take a deserved rest.
It is located 31 km to the north of Tizimin, by a
coastal unpaved path. It has: hotels, cabins,
restaurants, transportation and thematic
motorboat rides.
