Kabah is located 23 km southeast of Uxmal. The city is known as the Puuc region’s second largest religious center. Its period of greatest height was about the year 800 AD. It communicated with Uxmal by a sacred road that starts precisely at "El Arco", a kind of main gate of the city. Another beautiful building is the "Palace", located on high ground that forms a quadrangle. The most impressive building is the "Palace of the Masks", showing its impressive facade composed of 250 masks of the god Chac, carved in stone and placed in a magnificent baroque.
