Cenote San Ignacio is another wonderful cenote you can visit in the state of Yucatán in the municipality of Chocholá. It is located 20 minutes from Mérida on the road to Campeche, also known as Tunich Ha (Water in the stone). Its million-year-old interior, with ancestral magical beauty, has been preserved so visitors can admire it during their visit.
In this cenote, the outdoor temperature during the year varies from 16°C from November to February and in the summer it goes up to 40°C. However, there is a peculiar thermal effect inside the cave, being that regardless of the temperature outside the cave, the temperature inside throughout the year remains at 28°C. This thermal effect is worth mentioning since it is something unusual and interesting about this particular cave.
The archaeological zone Oxkintok and the caves of Calcehtok are less than half an hour away from the cenote.
