The bitter orange is a traditional crop in Yucatan, and it is very common for this fruit to grow in the backyards of Yucatecan houses. Thanks to its aroma and flavour properties, it has become rooted in the preparation of countless Yucatecan dishes and even beverages. Despite its sour taste, it is possible to obtain a delicious and refreshing drink that is very common among Yucatecans. It can be prepared with natural or mineral water, and sweetened with sugar or golden honey from the melipona bee.
