Located just 30 minutes away from Chichen Itzá, you can find Chihuan Cenote, a wonderful natural place, considered as one of the safest and most beautiful in the State.
It is an excellent option to visit and enjoy, it has a depth that goes from 19.6 ft to 45.9 ft always having direct access to the surface. Its diameter is 393.7 ft, from which 131.2 ft are illuminated.
You can admire huge stone formations besides stalactites and stalagmites which reach from 9.8 to 42.6 ft of depth.
Chihuán Cenote is undoubtedly the perfect place for practicing scuba diving, as its caves are ideal for this sport, its waters are blue due to the artificial light that enters.
Its enigmatic beauty is such that on April 18th, 2003, Discovery Channel recorded a documentary about this and other cenotes in the State of Yucatán under the name: From “Earth’s Center” a Place in Yucatán, showing all the world the beauty and wonder of this cenote.
