Just 37.2 miles away from Mérida, through the Mérida-Chetumal freeway, you will find the most popular cenote in Homún, the municipal cenote, pioneer in this great village full of cenote’s magic. Its easy access and size make it attractive for visitors. It is undoubtedly one of the largest, with comfortable access, and the best thing is that it has deep and shallow waters, what makes it ideal for the whole family. It has a rock platform surrounded by water. It is an enclosed-type cenote within a grotto, and it has two entrances: the first one has comfortable concrete stairs you must descend until getting to the cenote, and the second one is a large opening formed by the collapse of a part of the vault, where natural light enters and makes it a cozy place. At this incredible cenote you can see hundreds of swallows flying from the grotto, something worth to witness. Stalactite and stalagmite formations, as well as some columns will awe you, a gorgeous place.
