Ticul village is the most important pottery center in the state of Yucatán. Anciently, one of the pottery specialties in Ticul were the objects for storing water, which was commonly obtained from natural fountains and wells. Along time, and with new materials used for water tanks, these tools lost their functions, but even though they passed challenging times, pottery in Ticul has grown, showing its adjustment to change. As master Andrés Mena has done, here you can walk around the store and observe each artwork. It has flowerpots of all sizes, replicas of Mayan gods, stellae, masks, incense bowls, urns, and many more. You can also see the jewelry sample, and at the back part of the shop you can also see the artisan’s atelier and the furnaces.
