Alacranes Reef National Park is a set of small islands of coral origin, located 80.7 miles to the north of Progreso Port in Yucatán and which constitutes a protected natural area of importance in our country because it is the largest coral structure in the Gulf of Mexico, apart from being the only known and declared reef in the state of Yucatán.

It is formed by five isles: Isla Pérez, Isla Blanca or Chica, Isla Muertos or Desertora, Isla Pájaros, and Isla Desterrada. They are the largest coral reefs in the Gulf of Mexico. Reefs have grounded ships who fell down due to storms during the conquest times, and they have been appointed as human heritage by the UN. In this reserve you can enjoy beautiful beaches, reefs, as well as you can practice fishing in their crystalline waters. There are more than 116 bird species registered, fish, and more than thirty-four species of corals, and also the wreckages make of this place, the perfect site for scuba diving, and taking spectacular pictures to make of your journey a life experience.
