This hacienda was a job center devoted to cattle and the famous green gold: henequen. It has the objective of rescuing traditions through history and the lifestyle of ancestors, as well as the firm belief of preserving many of the region’s endemic species.

Explore these huge structures through which you can travel through time and be in these spaces full of life and history. Part of Sabacché’s mission is the preservation and care of the environment. Visit the Wild Fauna Reserve VallaZoo, a civil association that works for the preservation of native fauna from the Yucatan peninsula. It is a place where you can enjoy, admire, and learn about nature. It was founded in 2014 and is located in Valladolid, Yucatán; it hosts species that live in the region, like jaguar known by Mayan-speaking people as Balam, ocelot, kinkajou, or the great crocodile, among others. This new digital tool is based on a scanning technique to generate a virtual copy in detail of the Monumento a la Patria when taking HD pictures in strategic places of the monument and then processing them in a special software that offers detailed information of each point. It is available in English, Spanish and soon it will be available in Maya language and in French.

Information is divided into three sections: pre-Hispanic, conquest, and colonial; with the objective of highlighting the included places, and generating user’s interest to learn, interact in a non-invasive way, and experience a pleasant moment.

People can see the symbols and characters integrated in the first stage of this project, including the Patria shape, the wings of the Patria’s soul, wild music, wild dance, marine music, marine dance, warriors, Mérida’s coat of arms, agriculture, apiculture, goldsmith, fruit growing, architecture, painting, sculpture, and music. You can also find the characters that were important for Mexico’s and Yucatán’s history.

The Romantic and Peregrina Trova Promenade consists of a walking tour visiting six specific sites in Mérida’s historic downtown, to learn about the love story between the former governor Felipe Carrillo Puerto and the foreign journalist Alma Reed, who, when visited the city fell in love with the Yucatecan governor. It is a beautiful henequen hacienda founded in 1857. It has a main manor, a machinery room, a school, a dancing hall, a shop, a chapel, and in 1904 a hospital with a simple style was added with an administrative area, four pavilions, an operating room and a physician’s house. Today, all this is admired by visitors as it has been restored and enabled as a tourist place defined as a haven of green, beauty, and peace in Dzidzantún, the millenary heart of the Mayan lordship of Ah Kin Chel.

Visit Eknakán and San José de Eknakán Church, one of the five churches of neo-gothic style in the State. Go on a city tour in Mérida, where you can see the elaboration of a Yucatecan altar.
