Kukulkan Pyramid was built to align with the sun at the equinox in such a way that a shadow is projected in the north face. The shadows look like the body of a snake, which symbolizes the descent of Kukulkan god, who arrives to the earth to fertilize it for the next harvest season.

Ticul village is the most important pottery center in the state of Yucatán.
