Located less than 10 minutes from the archaeological site of Chichén Itzá, Tsukán Sanctuary of Life is a tourist site to explore and discover. They have nurtured an orchard with endemic seeds from the region, such as native corn, habanero chilli, xcatic chilli, tomatoes, and vegetables. All of these are part of the fruits harvested in Tsukán, which are planted in the so-called "ka'anche," an elevated vegetable system used in Maya culture. In this space, you can learn, interact, taste, and enjoy the gifts of nature. The activity for you is to leave a small footprint in Tsukán by planting corn seeds. After explaining the types of corn: white, yellow, red, and purple, along with their planting periods, you will proceed to take a corn seed from the calabashes they provide, as well as a wooden stick called "xúul," which is used to make the hole in the ground. Then you will place your seed in the hole, cover it with soil, and finally water it so it can grow—a life-giving experience.
