Las Coloradas is a port located on the northern coast of the Peninsula belonging to the municipality of Río Lagartos in the state of Yucatán. The town has about 1000 inhabitants who are mainly dedicated to fishing and the salt industry which are some of the most relevant activities in the region.

The pink-colored waters are the reason for naming it Las Coloradas. It is a magical place with the most amazing landscapes that are unique in the world. The color of its waters is warmer or stronger depending on the intensity of the sun.

The road to Las Coloradas is also an excellent opportunity to admire the landscape and the dunes. If you go by car you can pull over, fill yourself with awe with the impressive pink landscape, and take an indelible picture with it in the background.

Bear in mind that the place is only a lookout spot. There are signs prohibiting entry to its waters.

Besides, on the way to Las Coloradas, you will pass by different cities that were founded by the Spanish, ruined ex-convents, and large haciendas. So, you will not only go there to spend the day at the beach, but you can also learn a little bit of history. Also, in some of the hidden houses, you will be able to see different family cenotes that have crystalline waters.
