Mak'ulan nectar, also known as hoja santa (sacred leaf), emerged from the Polcán Fair, where a competition was held to create a beverage using the leaves of this plant as a complement to the dish. The winner of the first place was Janet Burgos, who experimented with different fruits to find the perfect recipe for the drink until she achieved the desired consistency and flavour by combining mak'ulan leaves with white cucumber and Persian lime. This beverage is full of properties, as hoja santa is considered one of the most medicinal plants in all of Mexico. Another flavour that will be available year-round at "El Bohemio," their sales cart located in the Flavor Alley in the center of Pisté, where they also offer other juices according to the fruit season.
