Located less than ten minutes from the Chichén Itzá archaeological site, Tsukán Sanctuary of Life is a tourist site to explore the abundant nature, discover and learn. Although the main attraction of this place is the cenote, the culinary part is not far behind, as they have a trail where you can learn more about the gastronomy and ways of life of the Yucatecans. This trail has a special area where a host will explain and teach the preparation of three Yucatecan recados (seasonings): the red, white, and black. On a large table, you can observe all the spices and condiments used in the preparation of each of these recados. Likewise, you will learn for which dish each of these is used. After the explanation, you can choose which recado you want to prepare, and they will provide you with the ingredients for you to grind them with the hand mill. As a result, you will get a smooth and homogeneous paste so you can knead your recado, wrap it in paper and take it as a result of the learning from your visit.
