Ciricote sweet is a traditional dessert from the Yucatán Peninsula, which is part of the offerings on the altars of Janal Pixán. It is known for its lengthy preparation process and incredible sweet flavour. The cooking process involves peeling the ciricote fruits, soaking them in water, and making small cuts to facilitate cooking. The fruit is then placed in a pot with enough water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks and brought to a boil. This process takes three days, during which the pot is boiled and allowed to rest over the heat of the coals. This allows the ciricote seed to break its shell and be enjoyed along with the rest of the dessert.
