The Cremita Churro is a delicious beach dessert from the Yucatan Peninsula, made with flour, sugar, salt, and butter. The butter is beaten until a homogeneous dough is obtained, which is then covered and left to rest for forty minutes. Afterwards, the dough is flattened and cut into rectangles of the same size. A plastic or wooden mold is greased, and before rolling them, the ends of the dough are sealed with beaten egg. Then, they are fried for five minutes on each side until golden brown. Excess oil is removed by placing them on absorbent paper and allowing them to cool. For the filling, sugar and water are combined in a pot to obtain a thick, transparent syrup, which is then mixed with egg whites, food colouring, and vanilla essence using a mixer. This sweet treat is popular in coastal areas and can be enjoyed on your next visit to the state of Yucatan.
