Drunken soup or tortilla soup is a typical dish from Yucatán that reflects the simplicity and beauty of the state. It is made with strained beans, traditionally using the leftover kabax beans from previous days that have been boiled multiple times to obtain a slightly thick consistency. Once the beans are ready, they are poured over tortillas cut into strips or uneven pieces, with a little oil, and stirred until they absorb the liquid and become dry. Afterwards, it is served in a deep plate accompanied by tomato sauce, pickled onions, and sliced hard-boiled egg, not forgetting the habanero sauce. All these ingredients give a unique flavour to the palate while enjoying the dish. Sometimes, it is topped with sopero cheese, jalapeños, or tabulated chilli. Let this dish delight you!
