Cocoyol sweet is an exquisite dessert from Yucatecan cuisine. The recipe originated in the town of Muna and spread to its surroundings. Its name comes from the cocoyol fruit used in its preparation, known in Maya as Tuk, as it comes from the palm trees called Tuk' Che. The dessert is prepared with piloncillo bars, cinnamon, water, and cocoyol. To make it, piloncillo bars and cinnamon are placed in a pot over low heat, and the mixture thickens to form a syrup. Then, the cocoyol is washed, peeled, and cooked in a pot with a small amount of water for five minutes. Finally, the previously made syrup is added, along with a pinch of cinnamon, and everything is mixed together to give it the final touch. Come and enjoy this 100% handmade sweet in Yucatán!
